It's getting spooky in the Big Apple.

American Horror Story’s latest instalment, which is set in New York City, has released its first extremely disturbing teaser for the 11th season of the show.

FX released an official teaser for AHS: NYC on Thursday (October 6) which did not contain any new footage, unfortunately, but it promises that this season will be “a season like no other” and that it is the “deadliest year” in the show’s expansive history.

The official synopsis says that in this season, “mysterious deaths and disappearances ramp up in the city. Meanwhile, a doctor makes a frightening discovery, and a local reporter becomes tomorrow’s headline.”

The cast includes a bunch of familiar faces like Zachary Quinto, Billie Lourd, Patti LuPone, Nico Greetham, Dot-Marie Jones and Sandra Bernhard, to name just a few. Hollywood's Joe Mantello and Years and Years' Russell Tovey also join the cast as new additions to the franchise.

Also confirmed is Desperate Housewives star Charlie Carver is in the cast, who was seen sharing a kiss with Grammy nominee Isaac Powell during one scene in Manhattan's West Village.

As for other notable alumni like Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Wes Bentley, there is no word of whether they are returning yet, but we should definitely not rule them out.

The new season will not repeat its two half seasons format like it did with season 10, and instead season 11 will be a full cohesive season.

FX boss John Landgraf talked about the upcoming episodes with The Wrap, saying: "What I can tell you is that the concept of season 11 is one story. It actually takes place in different timelines, but it's one subject, one story, with a beginning, middle, and an end, like many of the prior stories."

He later added of what's to come: "I actually really like this idea too, I think it’s really cool."

American Horror Story airs on FX in the US and Disney+ in the UK. Season 11 premieres on October 19. Catch up on series 1-8 on Netflix, with seasons 1-9 available to buy on Amazon Prime Video.
