Brockton-From the return of the Brockton Community Festival celebrations to the first day of cutting its own trees on the Mistletoe Acre Tree Farm in East Bridgewater, it started to feel a lot like a holiday in the Brockton area .

These stories-and more-are some of the hot stories that resonated with readers in the Brockton area this past week.

District 5 City Councillor Jeffrey Thompson has an ambitious vision for the former Christo's property on Crescent Street. Thompson sees it as "the gateway to Brockton's East Side", and he hopes that this property can be transformed. "I want to see property used for medical or academic purposes to assist Massasoit (community college). I want to see more synergy between medicine and academia," Thompson said.

After Brockton had no face-to-face public holiday celebrations for a year, more than 100 people came to Main Street on Saturday to celebrate the holiday and watch the return of the parade. The parade itself was cut off, and compared with previous years, the celebrations and suppliers were limited, but the audience said that they appreciated the organizers to put something together, and it was great to see the community gathered together.

The front half of the truck stayed in the southbound lane to block traffic, while the second half crossed the central barrier, blocking the northbound lane.
