If you have a fractured bone, chances are you have a cast-and you are facing the huge challenge of trying to take a bath or shower while keeping the cast dry. Here are some ideas for keeping the plaster dry so that you can and still keep yourself clean.

One tip not to try is to shower by blocking the cast. Water will inevitably drip from your arms or legs, soaking the filling of the plaster.

Even if you plan to fix the plaster out of the water, find something to cover it. Wet plaster can cause many problems, including unpleasant odors, skin problems, and discomfort.

Newspaper bags are usually the perfect size plastic bags to cover your cast. Other good choices are bread bags or small garbage bags. These can be sealed at the top with tape or rubber bands.

The rubber band allows the bag to be reused, and it is gentler on your skin. Be sure to check the bag for holes and do not try to submerge the plaster.

Plastic packaging can be used to cover the casting, but it must be tightly wrapped. Please pay special attention to ensure a good seal around the top of the casting. This method may leave gaps where water can penetrate, but it is a cheap and simple method of covering castings.

Using rubber bands on the top of the casting can help ensure that the seal does not leak. Likewise, do not immerse the plaster in water, as the seal may not be as tight as you want.

There are several companies that produce sleeves specifically designed to cover your actors. The sleeve usually includes a pump that sucks air from under the lid to form a tight seal on the arm or leg.

The cast cover comes in different sizes and looks good. They are more durable than other options, so they are less likely to tear. They should remain dry even if they are completely submerged under water.

Although it seems to be more expensive compared to simple plastic bags, they are more durable and more likely to effectively keep all water out!

Some casting materials can withstand moisture. Although these do not make the casting truly waterproof, they can withstand moisture without damaging the casting. These waterproof materials are very suitable for children, especially in summer.

There are several types of waterproof casting materials, and some seem to work better than others. Try not to wet the casting as often as possible, because even if the material can withstand moisture, it will take a long time to completely dry out. Some people still choose to use the lid, even if they have a waterproof model.
