Paul Pogba revealed the reason behind the eye-catching sleeve on his left arm, which he had worn during the 2020-21 season for Manchester United.

The France international has worn this accessory for most of the season, during which time he regained form at Old Trafford.

When rekindling his talents at the club level, sleeves have become the hallmark of midfielders, but why should he wear them in the first place?

Goal brings you all the details about this star midfielder's wardrobe.

Pogba explained that he started wearing compression sleeves-also called tubular bandages-to relieve his elbow discomfort.

Compression sleeves or bandages provide extra support to the elbow joint and strengthen weaknesses that can cause pain.

In fact, Pogba actually wore cuffs on both arms, and his right elbow was first painful, then his left elbow.

"From the pain, I [left elbow] was in pain," the Frenchman told the club's official website.

"It actually started with my right elbow, so I put it on my right, and my left hand had the same problem, so I started using this to keep warm instead of strapping. My elbows are tight. .

"I have been playing this, now it's natural, just for safety."

Pogba has worn sleeves when he played for Manchester United and when he represented France in international competitions.

Such bandages are not uncommon in sports, although it is somewhat unusual for football players to wear bandages on their arms-usually leg joints, such as knees and ankles, that require support.

When asked whether compression sleeves will become a fixed part of his clothing on the court, Pogba said he intends to continue wearing them for the foreseeable future.

"Now it has something to do with me," the 27-year-old joked when referring to how it has become easily recognizable as a feature.

"When people see it, they think of me. It just becomes me."

Simple compression sleeves can usually be found at most sportswear retailers or through medical stores (e.g. chemists).

Tubular bandages are relatively cheap and can be purchased in stores such as Boots in the UK. They can solve a range of problems, including joint pain in the legs and arms.

Pogba may have received medical advice before deciding to wear a bandage. If you are unsure, it may be worth consulting a doctor or physical therapist before using the bandage.
